Collective Engineering is pleased to showcase our role as the Building Services Engineer for the NHP Electrical Engineering Products Head Office refurbishment at 16-18 Cato Street, Hawthorn. From the early stages of the existing conditions review through detailed design and documentation, to partnering with Plan Group under a Design and Construct (D&C) framework, we delivered a comprehensive services design that aligns with NHP’s identity as an industry leader in electrical and automation products.
The project involved a major 3,000 sqm workplace transformation across two levels, including a new customer experience centre and an interconnecting feature staircase. A primary challenge was executing extensive services upgrades and a full external façade replacement within a live, occupied building. The project team planned and coordinated staged services cutovers and out-of-hours works to guarantee zero downtime and minimal disruption to existing tenants.
To support the facility’s long-term performance, efficiency, and future growth, Collective
Engineering designed and engineered critical infrastructure upgrades, including:
- Mechanical + HVAC: Reconfiguring and upgrading air distribution systems and electrification of the central thermal plant to accommodate full refurbishment of the building and the new architectural fitout.
- Electrical + Communications: Integrating robust power and data distribution tailored to NHP’s operational demands, showcasing modern commercial efficiency and integrating NHP’s products throughout.
- Hydraulics + Fire Protection: Modifying and extending existing life safety and hydraulic systems to seamlessly service the revised floorplates and architectural features.
Delivered on time, within budget, and with zero safety incidents, the NHP Head Office stands as a testament to the power of a truly collaborative project team.
